About Trevor
Having been through a painful separation in 1997 with my rehearsal wife, I found myself working in the Family Law space, which was the last thing I wanted to do at the time.
In 2001 my wife established a law practice and noticed that Family Law was the predominant need. I could see, from my experience and others, that the adversarial system was failing. Mediation caught my eye, and so my journey began into the less adversarial field of practice.
My experience in the adversarial side of Family Law has provided me with great insight into practice and procedure. It has shown me that each family has different needs and circumstances that require parental involvement in future decision making; after all, who is best placed to make decisions about a child than a parent? Parents know their own needs as well as that of their child; a court doesn’t! When parents separate, boundaries change, and I assist parents in navigating and understanding those boundary changes.
I pride myself on providing a child-focused or child-centred approach to Family Dispute Resolution, looking at roadblocks preventing parents from being that way inclined. My practice incorporates parental education in appropriate child development factors, core areas of conflict and communication strategies. I am passionate about children’s parental conflict and alienation experience and enjoy assisting people to reach their potential through mediation and coaching.
