Profile

Following a career as a litigation lawyer in Sydney law firms, I have  been mediating since 1986 part time and since 1996 full time, with wide  experience as sole mediator in over 2,000 commercial and intellectual  property disputes of all kinds in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. I have  been described by Legal Profiles as ‘the leading practitioner’ in ADR in  Sydney; by The Times of London as “the leading Australian mediator”; and by  Who’s Who Legal: Mediation as “one of the 10 most highly regarded commercial  mediators in the world”.

I was a Founder and former Chairman of LEADR  (now Resolution Institute) and contributed to the adoption by the Law Society  of NSW of a model contract clause for the resolution of disputes (1987) and  guidelines for solicitors who practise as mediators (1988) and to the Law  Council of Australia’s policy on ADR, model legislation and rules for  court-annexed mediation, ethical standards for mediators and the role and  responsibilities of lawyers in mediation (1999-2007).

I am currently:

Personal Comment

What pleases me most about mediation is how  the process can help people satisfy their underlying interests without the  need to determine who is right and who is wrong.
