Royden has over 35 years of experience in the law as a civil litigation partner, barrister, Tribunal Chair, mediator, and arbitrator. Currently a barrister at Bankside Chambers, Royden’s experience and expertise is wide ranging in

commercial disputes.


Royden’s experience includes disputes concerning access to land under the Crown Minerals Act, landlord/tenant disagreements, marketing of pharmaceuticals, and construction issues.


Royden is the former President of AMINZ and previously served as Chairperson on the Human Rights Review Tribunal for 9 years. Royden has consistently been named one of New Zealand’s Top 10 Mediators by Law Fuel. In addition, Royden has been the recipient of the Spencer Mason Scholarship and the Sir Ronald Davison Prize for Award Writing. 


Royden holds an LLM from the University of Cambridge as well as an LLB(Hons) from Canterbury University.
