Profile

I am the Principal of Donna Ross Dispute  Resolution. I am an international mediator accredited in Australia (NMAS) and  New York (Supreme Court, New York County), a Law Institute of Victoria accredited  specialist in mediation law, a negotiator, an arbitrator - Fellow of the  Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) – and Grade 2 arbitrator (IAMA). I  am admitted as a lawyer in both Australia and New York and also hold a French  law degree.

In addition to acting as a mediator and  arbitrator, I represent clients in contract and settlement negotiations as  well as mediations and arbitrations and provide advice on preventive dispute  resolution, managing business relationships, drafting dispute resolution  clauses and U.S., French and international law. I am a seasoned negotiator  and it is my passion to help parties in achieve better commercial outcomes  whether for deals or disputes.

I am an active supporter of ADR: I teach the  Mediation Accreditation Course for the Australian Disputes Centre (ADC), am a  Lecturer at La Trobe Law School and a CIArb faculty member, judge and coach  students in various competitions and frequently speak at events in Australia  and abroad. I chair Resolution Institute’s Arbitration Committee and sit on  the National Determinative Committee,  the Steering Committee for the ICC Australia  Asia-Pacific Mediation Competition as well as panels such as the Victorian  Small Business Commission, the Office of the Franchising Mediator, the  Magistrate’s Court of Victoria, the Asian International Arbitration Centre, and the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Personal Comment

I  firmly believe that ADR enables parties to resolve disputes in a more  commercial and cost-effective manner and that Immediation will give parties  more opportunities to engage in ADR processes.
